The STL Connection

My STL connection goes back to 1981, when I was born and raised in Florissant. Apart from living in Kirksville during my college days at Truman, a year in Spain and a year in New York, I’ve lived in south city for 18 years. What always brings me back, you ask? I think we sometimes don’t see new things around us in the city in which we’ve grown up. We may have blinders on for the simple fact that with familiarity or routine, we miss other things happening around us that have the potential to help us feel something new.  

As I get older wiser with having the perspective of travel, I see more beauty, history, and connectivity right here in front of me that maybe I didn’t see before. But I don’t just want to be seeing it, I want to BE IN IT. St. Louis has this unique quality of ‘strangers are the people you know.’ Maybe it’s the local dynamic or city size – whatever the reason, forming real lasting connection is actually something within reach. I see grit, honesty and warmth in our city that strikes a chord with me – I’m proud that it has in some way shaped my identity.

I want to be a part of the 314 Day project because I want to be part of shaping the identity of the city that helped shape me. If there is anything I can do with 20 years in the ad and branding industry, it’s directing my energy back into our city - and this is one of many ways I can do that. The work I’ve curated below is a small representation of that connection to people, places and things in the 314.

My Perfect 314 Day

My perfect day in the 314 starts on cool fall morning with my two little nephews, sister and mom to the zoo, followed by a picnic in the park. After that, an afternoon baseball game and dinner on the hill with my brother, and to close the evening, I meet up with some friends at a backyard fire pit event accompanied by live music and stories shared with some new and familiar faces.

She directs her energy toward an open communication process where everyone feels valued and heard, while also pursuing the smartest creative solution for each project - whether it’s for a global campaign or for a small business brand identity on a budget. Her expertise includes brand identity, brand strategy, campaign direction and production, graphic design. She can both art direct and copywrite.
